Well done ladies on tremendous efforts in season 2026.
🧡💪🏻
🧡 Proud 🧡
Our Senior Championship Women may not have taken out the final prize but we are incredibly proud of this bunch of amazing women.
Championship Women took the fight right up to Wolves on Wednesday night. As a new group in 2026 with limited training opportunity we certainly disrupted the competition that has long been dominated by a few clubs. We also missed Ellie Schulze unable to play due to Nationals lockdown!
GBA has been very fortunate and lucky to have the likes of Josie Greenwood and Erin Butler bring their experience and invest in this young group this season. And Sharna Thompson and Emerson Wells also taking a punt to help our club and youngsters with their experience and talent. Our young crop of Molly Green, Alinta Wilson, Izzy Geard and Ellie Schulze have taken huge strides in this environment and will be better for the experience.
Our shield women also had a great season and made finals. They didn’t quite put it all together at the right time but are a super young group (with Mother Hen Amanda) and are sure to see success into the future.
A big thank you to the ORANGE ARMY and everyone that made an effort to come along and support this week. What an amazing atmosphere and a great result for women’s basketball. Especially a lot of our juniors inspired by our seniors and some of them their coaches.
Our bench was full with players, supporters and incredible young ladies that make up our senior women’s squad and their energy and spirit is infectious. And that is an amazing thing regardless of results!!

Junior Club Captains 🧡🏀
Congratulations to two outstanding GBA players and members in Hallie Maughan and Sam Hughes as our inaugural GBA Junior Club Captains.
Both Hallie and Sam started their basketball careers with Revs from u10s and this year finish off their junior years in U18 Championship teams. Both are also members of our senior men and women’s squads.
Both individuals have grown and evolved over the years as players, mentors, coaches, referees and integral members of our Association. They are both incredible role models, continually give back to the club and lead by example in the way they conduct themselves on and off the court.
As Junior Club Captains, Hallie and Sam already exemplify our GBA values and will continue to lead the way forward and support younger members of our club for the season ahead.

History in the making!
This spring our GBA Women made history as our first ever U22 Shield Women’s team.
Thanks to Western Basketball Conference the 22 Shield women’s roster got off the ground with 4 teams battling it out. Tonight our women lost a hard fought semi final going down to the wire against Hobart.
Our GBA U22 Shield Women’s team is a mix of players in their late teens who have aged out of juniors along with emerging juniors seeking their first taste of senior basketball. So a great opportunity for players to keep playing and very proud of their endeavours.
Well done to WBC organisers and our GBA women’s crew including coach Niamh Bawle, assistant Peyton Rielley and all players stepping up to participate.
Our GBA Men’s shield and championship teams (men and women) start finals next week so stay tuned!
